Grid Services - Monday morning

Abdeslem Djaoui

Abdeslem explained the progress with GMA and the OGSA working group. He explained the difficulties we have had and that we still have some way to go.

The next phone meeting which will be attended by Abdeslem will be at 23:00 on 26th Jan.

For this we would like to have three documents prepared in advance. We don't have much effort to get this going however - so we may only be able to do the first two:

  1. Edit the GMA service doc and add a requirements section based on the R-GMA requirements but made "R"-free.
  2. Write a document explaining how we can do service discovery on top of GMA
  3. Explain why OGSI is not sufficient and that GMA can sit on top of OGSI.

We need to keep all the GMA people involved in the process - especially Dan G and Brian T.

Abdeslem will attend the next F2F meeting and will request a slot for GMA.

Web Service Code

James Magowan

James explained that we should write clean web services rather than worrying about Grid Services as Grid Services are likely to become closer to standard web services and so we should not base things on GT3. James will check in what he has done and will have a basic document explaining things next week. He will subsequently do a bit more work on the document. He encourages us to consider alphaworks downloads.

We now (all of WP3) have a lot of experience of programming with tomcat. We now need to understand programming with axis. We will continue the independent web service work then redesign everything the web service way.

We need to move more people into this work.
