Notes from discussion on NA3(Education) presentation F.Harris Bob Jones asked for clarification of the transition from EGEE-1 to EGEE-2, and, in particular on the use of eLearning tools and GILDA. GILDA has multi-roles in EGEE-1, and staff act both in NA3 and NA4. How will this be organised in EGEE-2.? In general education will make use of a t-infrastructure which will be geographically distributed and use eLearning tools. We need a broad description of how this will be organised, and how facilities other than GILDA, for example at Edinburgh will contribute. Bob also commented that to deal with the scaling problem we should look to possibly farm work out to commercial enterprises, and also look to possible contributions from related projects. Fab commented that in line with the scaling problem we should maybe be looking to have NA2 and NA3 representation in each region. Enzo Valente commented that it was important to consider how to help a 'new country' getting started in evaluating grid techology, prior to any substantial investment in resources. GILDA is invaluable in providing such help, and we must continue this in EGEE-2. Fotis Karagiannis stated that internal communication within NA3 had not been very active, for example by use of mailing lists. We must look to improve this in EGEE-2. Frank commented that in addition to VOs coming up with training plans and training requirements, the internal EGEE activities (SA1,JRA1 etc.) should also provide their requirements with associated planning.
