DataGrid final review:

The final DataGrid review was held on the 19th and 20th February at CERN.

The project was reviewed by 3 independent computing experts nominated by the

European Union. The material presented, minutes and the verbal finding of

the reviewers at the feedback session are available online:

The reviewers were very happy with the output of the project and most of

their comments concerned the transfer of technology, know-how and people to

the EGEE project.

A written report from the reviewers will be received within the next few

weeks.

The DataGrid project will officially conclude on the 31st March and the

remaining tasks include writing a final quarterly report, closing the

financial books and transferring the code repository and Bugzilla list to

LCG as well as the testbeds to EGEE.

DataGrid software license approved by OSI:

The DataGrid software license

(http://eu-datagrid.web.cern.ch/eu-datagrid/license.html) has been approved

by the Open Source organisation (www.opensource.org). This involved a legal

analysis performed by the CERN legal service in consultation with the US DoE

lawyers and confirms the EDG sw license as a recognised open source license

and thus makes it a good candidate for handling Intellectual Property rights

for mware development in EGEE. The next step is to investigate if the

license can be considered as "GPL compatible" by the Free Software

Foundation (www.fsf.org). Chris Eck is also involved in this process for the

LCG project.
