======================================================= Minutes from Metrics session EGEE JRA4 Face to Face meeting, Edinburgh, 13 July 2005 ======================================================= Present ------- DANTE: Loukik Kudarimoti (LK) DL: Mark Leese (ML) UEDIN: Ahmed Abdelrahim (AA), Ratnadeep Abrol (RA), Kostas Kavoussanakis (KK), Alistair Phipps (AKP) Actions arising --------------- [BV/SN] Create WP7 traceroute tool / token [RA] Ensure DT supports traceroute display [AKP] Modify netmon2rgma and object model to support traceroute (after tool written) [ML/RS] Resolve how to satisfy jitter and available bandwidth requirements (if udpmon is adequate) [KK] Make NMWG4RGMA modifications to allow GridFTP data to be retrieved via NM-WG (after new NMWG4RGMA implementation produced) Minutes ------- Middleware need round trip jitter but ML thinks values from udpmon may not be accurate. ML/RS to investigate. Ongoing issues with available bandwidth. AKP raises point about udpmon taking up excessive bandwidth. ML points out that same tests were run for EDG and no complaints were made then - does not think it is an issue. ML/RS to continue to investigate how to satisfy available bandwidth. ML thinks traceroute requirement is a high priority and is needed by NOCs. May be possible to add traceroute to WP7. Modification of netmon2rgma and object model also needed. BV/SN to create the WP7 traceroute tool, AKP to modify netmon2rgma and object model. ML does not think the application level protocols should be a high priority and does not think they give us any network measurements. KK points out the adding NM-WG interface for GridFTP logs helps us get the tools deployed. AKP/RA agree that the service required to retrieve these logs is essentially NMWG4RGMA (since the log data is available through R-GMA) but with a different configuration for retrieval of fields and limiting of statistics supported. KK will implement this modification. AKP 14/7/2005
