However, there are numerous issues for the workshop at the end of the month, see below. 39 10/08/2005 Check with Bekki what's planned for AHM Jens Open -> Closed. Here's part of Bekki's reply: We've got quite a way along with the stand plans. There will be a new GridPP background stand and two or three screens running demos. Part of the plan is to have a rolling programme of 6 themed time slots (shared with AstroGrid) in which 'experts' would be around to discuss those themes. The themes we came up with were Security, Data, Work-flows, Transport networking, Portals and Operations. See below. 40 10/08/2005 Check with Michael & Patrick SRM plans for DESY workshop Jens Open -> Closed. They intend to have SRM content, but much depends on Timur being able to attend, and that is not yet certain. 41 10/08/2005 Agree licence with DESY Jens Open -> Moving forward, slowly. Waiting for input from legal eagles, currently ours (RAL). 1. Workshop at DESY Greig volunteers to be (1) responsible for gathering GridPP issues that we want to air at the workshop; (1.5) send them to developers one week before the workshop; (2) responsible for reporting back to GridPP storage; and (3) attending the workshop. ACTION ALL: Send issues to Greig by 22/08 (Tuesday next week, or a week before the workshop). ACTION Greig: Follow up with list by mail by 5th Sep. (no nearby telconf). Greig will also maintain the issues in Savannah, so we can all see what they are. 2. Loads of minor things: 2a. Review of SC3 - send info to Jens (or to Jeremy) It was agreed that Tier 2s participating in SC3 will send information to Jens by end of tomorrow (18th), who will then merge and send to Jeremy. ACTION: Greig ACTION: Matt (CLOSED - Matt has already sent me his version!) ACTION Mona? 2b. Merging documentation - status, who is responsible etc. We agreed that documentation should be moved to GridPP pages, rather than remain in people's homepages. People should contact Jeremy for access. Or Steve Lloyd. I still think the pages are hard to find. From the main page, either you click the storage table (in the middle) which then points back to the dCache pages, or to "Jamie's home page" (which is nevertheless stored on gridpp.ac.uk). Or you click "Deployment & operations", then "Installations", and then scroll down to the bottom of the page. Which then has links for dCache and for DPM. We should have a separate storage middleware page which we can all edit. And a directory where we can add things. 2c. Savannah - a reminder to submit issues: https://savannah.cern.ch/bugs/?group=srmsupportuk&func=browse&set=open This is now happening, or about to happen. 2d. Back to AHM. Any further thoughts about visualising storage? Dave very kindly offered we could use his toolkit. Owen suggested viewing whether files were the same (replicas) vs new data. Jens suggested cheating. 2e. Issues for us to discuss with Patrick / Michael. By the deadline, I had received exactly 0 things, leaving me to believe there is no burning need for a phone conference with Patrick and Michael. This is now being superseded by the preparation for the workshop, where Greig maintains the list of issues. 3. AOB ------------------------------------------------------------------------ New format for meeting where we first do the boring stuff and then everyone who doesn't want to sit around for the technical issues can leave. 4. Technical stuff - Minuteman: Owen. RAL Teir 1 No news and no changes Ral PP Chris Brew is just starting to use D-Cache and is using the latest LCG release of D-Cache and Yaim. The install worked flawlessly where he installed a head node an a pool on a single computer, then followed by adding a pool on a second computer and then rounded off by deleting a pool of the admin node. Firewall holes are needed before the D-Cache system is placed in the information system. Chris is slightly concerned at the amount of unneeded applications installed by the Yaim installer on the pool nodes. Edinburgh Problem of reinstalling the admin node, while reinstalling the 2.6 release he is now focusing on migrating the PNFS database which was we think hindered by firewalls, but this upgrade has yet to be confirmed updated. Adding the university SAN has been resolved for this release die to changes in NFS to make the window size appropriate and the HSM stagger details are not pressing as yet. Ongoing experiments in DPM are still positive, we expect more feed back in the long term. Manchester Upgraded to 2.6 just upgraded the rpms and then reran the configuration upgrade then ran the /opt/d-cache/install/install_doors.sh script as this is a bug in YAIM, to which Alessandra has submitted a bug to YAIM Lancaster Problems caused by a hardware failure in the admin node loosing a notwork card. Intending to upgrade the system to a new computer until Chris suggested swapping the hard drive with the new computer.
