CV for Markus Schulz In 1988 he received a Diploma in Physics from the University of Dortmund for work on the H1 detector at the DESY accelerator center in Hamburg. In 1993 he finished his studies with a Ph.D. in High Energy Physics from the University of Hamburg. From 93 to 96 he worked on data acquisition and trigger systems for the OPAL and other experiments at CERN. As a Scientific Associate at the Brookhaven National Laboratories in the US he contributed from 1996 to 2000 to the real time readout system for the STAR detector. In 2000 he moved to the Kirchhoff Institute for Physics of the University Heidelberg to work on hard and software trigger systems for two LHC experiments. Since 2002 he is active in the area of grid deployment and operations at CERN. His experience in computing ranges from CPU chip design, distributed real time systems, data management systems, high speed networks to UNIX kernel programming and application level code development.
