First ARDA Workshop

This is a combined LCG/EGEE Workshop to establish the main lines of the work that has to be done to respond to the requirements and recommendations of the ARDA and HEPCAL II reports. The workshop will take place at CERN on 21 and 22 January 2004. Location: 21st January - B.40-S2.A01; 22nd January - IT Amphitheatre (building 31)

VRVS will be available: VIRTUAL ROOM DESERT

The organisers are Les Robertson, Torre Wenaus and Frédéric Hemmer.

If you plan to attend the workshop please email Sophie.Gervaise@cern.ch. This will ensure that you have a seat in the conference room and receive all future mail about the workshop.

The goals of the workshop are -

  • to discuss and try to get consensus on -
    - the scope of the distributed analysis problem that should be
      addressed by ARDA
    - the scope of the generic middleware, the approach to
      implementation, and target timescales
    - which HEP-specific components should or could be done in
common in the LCG AA e.g. POOL, collections, meta-data, SEAL, ..
    - what is the responsibility of the experiments

  • explore a framework for an ARDA implementation project, coordinating –
       Middleware ↔ LCG AA ↔ experiment analysis s/w ↔ end-users

The workshop conference room is FULL - 100 people have registered!! You can also connect to the workshop using VRVS - Desert room
