Introduction to developing Grid applications on Grid-Ireland

The purpose of this event is to introduce researchers to Grid Computing, the national infrastructure Grid-Ireland, and the international EGEE grid. The course gives experience of the current middleware during practicals using both Grid-Ireland and the GILDA training testbed, as provided by INFN/University of Catania and partners. This agenda may be subject to minor alteration.

EGEE has established an international grid infrastructure. This talk describes its major activities and objectives.

The talk describes the major services provided by the EGEE grid: Authorisation and Authentication Information Services Data Managament Job submission "Job Description Language" is described. This is used to specify the requirements of jobs to be submitted to the EGEE Grid.

Using the GILDA testbed, participants will gain familiarity with the main services provided by the EGEE middleware.
