Description

HARD PROBES 2004

1st International Conference on Hard and Electromagnetic Probes of High Energy Nuclear Collisions

In the experimental study of high energy heavy ion collisions, it has become increasingly clear that hard probes are of basic importance. This meeting will therefore address how the production of

  • quarkonia
  • open charm and beauty
  • jets
  • photons and dileptons
and initial state nuclear parton structures can be used to obtain conclusive results from the heavy ion program.

The meeting will start with a pre-conference school for graduate students and young post-docs on Thursday, November 4, 2004, consisting of survey lectures on different aspects of the topic. The actual conference will begin on Friday morning, November 5, 2004.

The conference will be held in Ericeira, a charming fishing town and resort on the open Atlantic, somewhat northwest of Lisbon. The participants will be accommodated in the Hotel Vila Galé, directly on the seaside.

Further details can be obtained from the conference website https://cern.ch/hardprobes04 or via email to conf-hard-probes-2004-org@cern.ch.
